[18F]2b is a fluorine-18 labeled radiopharmaceutical developed as a positron emission tomography (PET) imaging agent for prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA). It is a Lys-Urea-Glu-based oxime derivative of the FDA-approved tracer [18F]DCFPyL. Developed by researchers at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), [18F]2b was designed to optimize the pharmacokinetic profile of PSMA tracers, specifically aiming to reduce kidney uptake while maintaining high tumor targeting. In preclinical studies, [18F]2b demonstrated high binding affinity to PSMA and showed significantly faster blood clearance and lower kidney accumulation compared to [18F]DCFPyL, potentially improving the detection of lesions near the kidneys and reducing radiation dose to excretory organs.
